Presentation Design Tips for Clear, Confident Slides
By Kavin P · · 1 min read

Use these presentation design tips to make slides that support your message instead of distracting from it.
Plan the story first
Write the key message and three supporting points before opening slide software. A clear structure matters more than decoration.
One idea per slide
Use a short headline that states the point, followed by a visual or a few words. If you need a long explanation, speak it.
Use readable type
Choose one or two fonts. Keep body text large enough to read from the back of a room. Avoid all capitals for long lines.
Choose consistent layout
Use master slides, a grid and a limited colour palette from your brand. Consistency feels professional.
Make charts clear
- Show one message per chart.
- Label directly instead of using a complex legend.
- Remove gridlines and effects that add noise.
Use quality visuals
Use sharp photos, simple icons and diagrams. Avoid clip art and heavy animations.
Leave white space
Space helps focus. Resist filling every corner.
Practise
Rehearse with the slides. Cut anything that does not help your audience decide or understand.
Provide handouts
Share a PDF with extra detail so slides can stay simple.

Clean, readable fonts used consistently, usually one or two families.
Should I share my slides afterwards?
Yes, ideally as a PDF with extra detail in the notes or a handout.
