Mobile Friendly Website Design Tips
By Kavin P · · 1 min read

Most visitors will see your site on a phone, so these mobile friendly website design tips matter.
Design for small screens first
Start with the mobile layout, then expand for larger screens. This forces you to prioritise what matters.
Simple navigation
Use a clear menu with a handful of items. Keep the main call to action easy to reach.
Tap-friendly controls
Buttons and links should be large enough for a thumb and spaced apart. A common minimum is about 44 pixels tall.
Readable text
Use at least 16 pixels for body text, good contrast and short line lengths. Avoid long paragraphs.
Optimise images
Serve sizes that match the screen and compress them. Avoid text baked into images that becomes unreadable.
Forms that work on phones
Use the right input types for email and phone, label every field and keep forms short.
No horizontal scrolling
Check that nothing overflows the screen, especially tables and wide images.
Speed
Mobile networks vary. Keep scripts light and test on a real device.
Test often
Check at several widths and on both Android and iPhone. Have a friend try to complete your main action.
Add quick contact
Click-to-call and WhatsApp buttons help mobile visitors act immediately.
