Ad creative testing helps you learn what message and visual actually move people, instead of guessing.

What to test

  • Hook: the first line or the first seconds of video
  • Visual: photo, illustration or product shot
  • Offer: discount, free consultation or guarantee
  • Call to action: wording and button

Test one thing at a time

Change one variable and keep everything else the same. Otherwise you will not know what caused the difference.

Set rules before you start

Decide the metric (cost per lead, click-through rate or conversion rate), the minimum spend per ad and the time window. Avoid judging after a few hours.

Keep a testing log

Record the idea, the versions, the results and your conclusion. A simple spreadsheet is enough.

Learn from winners and losers

Ask why an ad worked. Was the benefit clearer? Was the image more relevant? Apply the lesson to the next round.

Refresh regularly

Audiences get tired of the same ad. Replace weak creatives and rotate in new angles.

Brief your designer well

Give a clear goal, audience, message and size list. Good briefs make testing faster.
